12079333_1090945867583141_5728260404111872030_nKABUL: (Middle East Press) Following the air and ground operations conducted by special security forces in Kunduz province, have fully retaken full control of the city.

The operation was led by Gen. Murad Ali Murad, the deputy chief of staff of the Afghan National Army (ANA).

Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, said clearing operations are underway after the Afghan forces retook the control of the city.

He said heavy casualties have been incurred to the Taliban militants during the ongoing operations.

The operation began around 11:00pm Wednesday night.

Taliban militants had captured the control of the city late on Monday killing dozens of civilians and looting their properties.
