Mullah Nasir, the Taliban group’s military command and a close ally of the group’s supreme leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, was also killed during the operation, Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said.
Meanwhile, Sardar Mohammad Hamdard, Press Officer in Helmand, told ‘MiddleEastPress’ the building of Sangin district was captured by security forces this morning.
He said an operation was launched in the district since last night by local police and Afghan National Army (ANA).
“The exact number of Taliban’s casualties was not specified” Hamdard said.
This comes as Taliban had seized Sangin district four days before.
