Afghan Army Release 60 Captives From Taliban Jail

MEP: At least 60 hostages have been released from Taliban prison following a Special Operation launched by Afghan National Army (ANA) overnight in southern Helmand province.

The raid was conducted on Thursday night in Nawzad district, a statement by Ministry of Defense said adding that Afghan forces also managed to kill at least two insurgents and wounded three others.

Those released in the operation are in stable condition, the statement noted.

The statement further added that 10 motorcycles belonging to the insurgents were also destroyed during the operation and large amount of explosive were seized.

The Taliban insurgents are yet to comment on the report.
