US Airstrike Targets Pakistani Taliban Leader Omar Mansoor

Omar MansoorMEP:  A Pakistani Taliban leader has been killed in an a U.S. drone attack in Afghanistan who was accused of coordinating a 2014 school massacre that left more than 150 children dead, the Pakistani and U.S. military said on Wednesday.

Omar Mansoor, also known as Umar Khalifa/Narai and Khalid Khurasani, died in Nangarhar province over the weekend, Lt. Gen. Asim Bajwa, the Pakistani military spokesman, said in a statement.

Gen. Bajwa said the commander of the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan called Pakistan’s army chief to confirm Mansoor’s death.

He was wanted for his role in a Taliban attack at a school in the northwestern city of that killed more than 150 people, most of them children.

The Pentagon confirmed it conducted an airstrike in July 9 that killed Mansoor. The attack killed four other individuals of Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorists.

The Pakistani Taliban didn’t comment on reports of Mansoor’s death.
