9 ANA Soldiers Killed, Wounded in Helmand Car Bomb Attack

KABUL (MEP) – UPDATE: As a result of a car bomb attack on the ANA security post in Nad Ali district of Helmand province, five ANA soldiers were killed and four others were injured.

A major blast at around 10am today, Monday, December 09, rocked Nad Ali district of western Helmand province.

The incident came when ANA soldiers identified and exploded a Mazda vehicle loaded with explosives near security post, Ministry of Defense said in a newsletter.

“The security forces identified the bomber and starting shooting at the truck, but the bomber detonated his explosive,” it said.

The suicide attack left 5 ANA soldiers killed and 4 others wounded, according to MoD newsletter.

The armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf Ahmadi wrote in a post on Twitter that several security forces were killed and wounded in the incident.
