70 Armed Taliban Killed, Wounded In Badakhshan Operations

security operationsMEP: At least 27 armed Taliban, including three important commanders were killed and 32 others wounded, in an operation was launched in Raghistan District of Badakhshan province a few days before.

Naweed Frotan, Badakhshan governor’s spokesman said the operation was launched under the name of ‘Kokcha’ and 12 strategic areas have been cleared of insurgents so far as well as Kalar-Payan and Ghor-Pala regions are surrounded by security forces.

Two security forces were also killed and six others were wounded during the operation, he added.

Meanwhile, the Afghan security forces defeated the armed Taliban in Tagab, Shahidaa and Yaftal-Bala districts in which 14 other members of the armed group were killed and four others have joined the security forces.

Taliban have not commented on the case yet.

The Kokcha operation was launched in Badakhshan after the armed Taliban seized a number of areas, including two districts.
