$ 63 million missing at American University of Afghanistan

The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has announced loss of $ 63 million at the American University of Afghanistan.

According to Middle East Press, this amount of money from US aid to AUAF has been missed since 2012, SIGAR reported.

The report says that for every undergraduate student in AUAF during four-year bachelor degree, about $ 126,000 of US aid has been spent.

The United States Special Inspector General John F. Sopko told the New York Times that it has been “the worst” case in seven years of reviewing government contracts and US aid recipients in Afghanistan.

However, officials at the AUAF denied these allegations, saying that all US aid to the university has been consumed and has not missed.
