50 Armed Taliban Killed, Injured In Northern Afghanistan

ANA-OperationMEP: Security officials in northern Afghanistan say the armed Taliban have suffered heavy casualties in the past 24 hours.

209th Shaheen Corps spokesman, Lt. Col. Abdul Qahar Araam stationed in Balkh says following Afghan security forces air strikes on Taliban positions in Qosh Tapa district of Jawzjan province, 18 armed Taliban were killed and 23 others were injured.

The report comes as yesterday, local officials and members of the Jawzjan provincial council had concerned about the fragility of the security situation in the district.

According to Araam, in separate clashes in the district of Kohestan in Faryab province, three Taliban were killed and two others wounded.

Elsewhere, as a result of joint operation of clearing under the name of ‘Nawed 8’ in Chemtal district of Balkh province, five Taliban, including Mullah Nasrullah Hejran one of the Taliban’s heads were killed and 10 villages have been cleared of the existence of this group, the source added.
