Afghan-HelicopterMEP: At least 46 armed Taliban, including the group’s head of the Commission for Helmand’s provincial council were killed following air and ground operations conducted by security forces in several provinces.

In addition, a number of them were wounded.

The Ministry of Defense announced in a statement the air operations were launched in Marjah, Nahrseraj, Sangin and Gereshk districts of Helmand province.

The statement adds that in Gereshk district, 11 armed Taliban, including “Mullah Hamza” chairman of the provincial council killed and one ammunition depot were damaged.

Also in Marjah district, eight Taliban were killed, six wounded and two vehicles and a motorcycle were also destroyed, the statement further added.

Elsewhere, in Sangin district 12 armed Taliban were killed as well as three al-Qaeda members targeted in the district of Nahrseraj in the same operation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry notes of the killing of Taliban commander, Qari Shams-ul-Rahman, one of the famous commanders of the group along with 10 of his men in an operation in Khash district of Badakhshan province.

According to the statement, in another military operation in Qaisar district of Faryab province, two armed Taliban, including Abdullah Jan, the group’s commander and 9 others wounded.

Although the Taliban have not commented in relation to the operation, but intense fighting in Khash district of Badakhshan province have reported.
