KABUL: (MEP) – The local officials of eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday confirmed the deaths of four Taliban rebels, including and their commander during a clash with the Afghan security forces which occurred on Saturday night and five other rebels were also injured in the attack, Tolo reported.
“The clash took place after a number of Taliban insurgents attacked a police check-post in the Nazyan district of the province,” said Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the spokesman of the Provincial Governor.
“The clashes continued for over three hours and no Afghan forces’ casualties were reported during the clash,” Mr. Abdulzai added.
The Taliban has not yet commented about the clash or casualties.
Nazyan district is located in the eastern part of the Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar. It is one of the most insecure districts in the province, where insurgents frequently launch attacks on the security forces.
