33 Afghan Soldiers Killed in Taliban Attack in Badakhshan Province

KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Taliban insurgents have fatally attacked and killed at least 33 Afghan security forces on their military posts in north-eastern Badakhshan province.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) issued a statement saying the deadly attack took place in Jurm district on Saturday afternoon.

The statement said that the Taliban have also taken 14 soldiers hostage and over 17 others of them have been wounded.

Badakhshan representatives in the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of the Parliament), said that they informed leaders of the National Unity Government (NUG) about the attack but no officials have been sent to the province to assess the situation.

The statement by (MoD) further added that an investigation has been initiated and the situation is being under control in the area and the soldiers have been sent to their posts.
