UPDATED: 3 Dead, Over 60 Injured In Kabul Military Hospital Attack

MEP: Preliminary statistics of losses arising in suicide attacks and the armed opposition group at the hospital of Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital show three people were killed and more than 60 others wounded. 

The incident happened at 9:00 am this morning as initially a bomber detonated his explosives near the gate and after gunfire was heard, according to witnesses.

However, security officials confirmed the attack but did not provide details on exact number of casualties.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Ismail Kawoosi, head of the public relations of Ministry of Public Health told the Middle East Press, three dead bodies and more than 60 wounded so far have been transferred to hospitals in Kabul.

He did not specify the identity of the injured and victims of the incident and said that the casualties could rise.

The gunmen, dressed as medical personnel, took position on upper floors of the hospital and engaged special forces sent to the scene, one of the hospital staff told media.

The clashes still continue in the area and there is no report of the casualties on attackers.

At the same time, an informed source told local television that the armed Taliban group rejected hands in the attack.
