KABUL: (MEP) – Two blasts early on Wednesday morning in the 16th zone of Kabul city wounded three soldiers of 16th zone police station, officials said.

Kabul Police chief Gen Zahir Zahir confirmed the blasts and said that the first blast took place around 6:30am local time in a cemetery in the Qalae Zaman Khan area of 16th zone of Kabul city.

Gen Zahir stated that the second blast took place around 07:30am when a mine exploded near the rockets which were placed for launching by unknown men.

“Police got information about the rockets which were placed in a grave yard in Qalae zaman khan area of 16thzone of Kabul city and immediately started operations and found the rockets but before police could reach the area one of the rockets exploded and the second was foiled by security forces,” Zahir said, tolo reported.

“The second blast was as the result of a mine placed near the rocket, and when security forces were trying to foil the rocket the mine exploded,” Zahir added.

As the result of the mine blast 3 police were wounded, but none killed, Zahir said.

One suspect was arrested in connection, Zahir added.

There were no civilian casualties, officials said.

No group has claimed responsibility yet.
