28 Rebels Killed in Afghan Forces Raids

KABUL: (MEP) – The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement on Sunday said 28 Taliban militants were killed in several coordinated operations conducted by Afghan and coalitions forces around the country.

Ten other insurgents were injured during the operations.

“In the past 24 hours, Afghan National Police (ANP) conducted several joint clearance operations with the cooperation of the Afghan National Army (ANA), NDS and coalition forces to rid areas of terrorists and enemies of peace and stability in Afghanistan,” read the MoI’s statement.

The operations were conducted in Kunar, Nangarhar, Kapisa, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Baghlan, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Helmand provinces.

Light and heavy rounds ammunition was confiscated, TOLO reported.

The forces were also said to have defused 18 different types of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) placed across Baghlan, Kunduz, Balkh, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, Paktiya and Herat provinces.

No details regarding casualties amongst the Afghan forces were provided.

Taliban spokesmen have not commented on the reported raids.
