22 Dead As Ecuador Military Plane Crashes In Amazon Region

_88790467_031516_ecuadorKABUL: (MEP) At least 22 passengers have been killed after a military plane crashed in Ecuador’s Amazon region, local media said.

President Rafael Correa said on Twitter, “There are no survivors. Our embrace of solidarity to the families and the armed forces. It is a tragedy.”

Nineteen soldiers had been heading to a parachuting course when the aircraft came down in the country’s Amazon region. Two pilots and one mechanic were also killed.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

The Israeli-built Arava plane crashed at 14:30 local time (19:30 GMT) in the eastern province of Pastaza.
