200 Armed Taliban Enters Badakhshan From Pakistan: Report

MEP-TalibanMEP: Government officials in Badakhshan province confirmed that about two hundred of armed Taliban have entered northeast of the province from neighboring Pakistan.

Ahmad Faisal Begzad governor of Badakhshan province, said Thursday that two hundred of armed Taliban arrived in the province within a few days, “however, no military movements are yet seen by them”, he added.

Begzad says the opponents who are also armed with weapons have entered the province with various nationalities and aligned with other groups that their number reaches 1,800.

According to the source, the armed Taliban mostly enter this province from Pakistani side of ‘Toopkhana’.

Badakhshan Governor noted Taliban currently active in Warduj and Yamgan districts in general and in districts of Jurm and Raghistan are relatively presented, but Najmuddin a resident of Badakhshan told Middle East News Agency that Taliban have a 50 percent military presence in the province.

He says the group has established security checkpoints in Toopkhana area on the border with Pakistan and can easily go to Pakistani soil and come back to Badakhshan.

“The opponents even transfer wounded members of their group via the way to Pakistan and uses this way in order to supply military equipment.
