20 Taliban Militants Killed in Sar-e-Pul

ff5e2e2294527ee7a55e1189ac815279_XLKABUL: (Middle East Press) Heavy clashes erupted in northern Sar-e-Pul province between Taliban militants and Afghan security forces in which at least 20 Taliban were killed and up to 40 others injured, officials said Tuesday.

“The conflict between the two groups begun last night in Kharzar, Sartakhta and Sheramha areas” Abdul Qayum Baqi Zoye, Provincial police chief said.

He added, a number of senior Taliban leaders were also among the dead including Mullah Neyaz Mohammad, a famous senior Taliban commander.

Security forces have managed to destroy a large number of Taliban’s position during the clashes, according to Baqi Zoye.

There are no reports regarding the casualties of Afghan troops in the conflict.

Taliban militants are yet to comment on the report.

Taliban had earlier seized Kohestanat district of Sar-e-Pul which later on defeated by security forces and the district fell back to government forces.
