2 Former IEC Commissioners Transferred to Hospital

KABUL (MEP) — The Attorney General Office (AGO) has transferred the two former IEC commissioners from the prison to the hospital after their health were announced critical.

News and photos indicating health situation of the two former IEC commissioners Maliha Hassan and Humaira Haqmal, who were sentenced to prison, were published yesterday; after then, Attorney General Office (AGO) transferred them to the hospital.

Attorney General Office (AGO) spokesman Jamshid Rasouli said in a Facebook update that Mrs. Maliha Hassan and Mrs. Haqmal were taken to hospital.

The two were sentenced to five years in prison nearly twenty days ago along with nine other election commissioners over abusing their duties and widespread fraud in the 2018 parliamentary election.

Mrs. Hassan has been seriously ill at Kabul’s Pul-e-Charkhi Women Prison for several days, and authorities had not taken any action outside the prison until yesterday.
