16 killed or injured, Farah intelligence chief survives explosion

KABUL: (MEP) – Provincial intelligence — National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief for Farah province survived a roadside bomb blast on Thursday morning, khaama reported.

According to local government officials, the incident took place after a motorcycle packed with heavy explosives went off near the convoy of Gen. Abdul Samad, NDS chief of Farah province.

Abdul Rahman Zhwandai, spokesman for Farah governor confirming the report said at least 16 people were killed or injured following the blast.

Mr. Zhwandai further added that NDS chief, Abdul Samad was on his way towards his office when the incident took place, leaving one person dead and 15 others injured.

He said one child was killed and 11 civilians along with 4 security forces were injured following the explosion.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
