130 More killed, Injured in Kabul Blast

KABUL (MEP) — The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MoI) says the death toll from Monday car bombings goes to 16 died and 119 wounded.

Around 9:55 pm last night, a massive explosion occurred in the ‘Qabil Bai’ area of ​​the 9th Police district (PD9) of Kabul.

A vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off at the south wall of ‘Green Village’ Camp, said Interior Ministry spokesman Nusrat Rahimi.

He further said that a tank near the camp also set on fire, 16 people, including civilians and camp personnel were killed, and 119 others wounded after the two explosions.

Rahimi said that five attackers who were hiding in the area were also killed by security forces.

The incident has caused extensive damage to the neighboring residential houses.

He added that about 400 foreign citizens were safely rescued from the area by the ANP.

According to source information, the search and rescue teams’ operations ended around 5am today Tuesday.

The armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident and said civilians were not living near the camp.
