12 Dead, 42 Injured following Suicide Bomber in North Baghdad

KABUL: (Middle East Press) A suicide bomber hit a Shiite-majority area of north Baghdad on Monday, leaving at least 12 people dead and injuring more than 42, security and medical officials reported.

The officials further added, the blast took place in Kadhimiyah, which is home to a revered Shiite shrine.

A police colonel said the bomber collide inside a restaurant at Kadhimiyah’s Aden Square, while interior ministry and medical officials said the attack targeted the crowded square.

It is the second suicide bombing to hit the capital in three days.

On Saturday, an attack inside a restaurant in the Baghdad Jadida area killed at least 23 people.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the Monday attack.
