11 Security Forces Killed in Badakhshan Bombing

KABUL (MEP) – A total of 11 local police forces have been killed in a roadside bomb blast in Khash district of Badakhshan province.

The incident took place Saturday in the Chashmah Safidar area of Khash district when a convoy of local police vehicles was hit by a roadside mine explosion.

Badakhshan police spokesman Sanaullah Rouhani said clashes had initially broken out between the Taliban and security forces but later mine exploded when supporting force arrived.

A total of 11 local police forces, including Commander Mazari, were killed in the incident, he said.

Rouhani noted that Mr. Mazari was one of the local police commanders in Khash district.

Badakhshan police spokesman added that Qari Hamidullah, the Taliban commander for Argo district, and his guard were also killed by security forces.

The armed Taliban have not yet commented.
