11 Afghan Students Drowned In Kokcha Sea

Kokcha seaMEP: Eleven students of the Takhar and Badakhshan Universities and a number of masters that traveled to Baharak district of Badakhshan province for recreation, were drowned in the sea of Kokcha and are missing, officials said on Saturday.

Nawid Frotan, spokesman for the governor of Badakhshan said the incident occurred last night in the area of Khwaja Abdal.

At least 12 members of the Takhar and Badakhshan university students and students who had earned a Master Degree from Turkey, had traveled to the district and on the way back, their car was deviated of the road and fell into the sea, he added.

“Of those in the accident, only one person was injured and took himself out of the sea, while eleven others have drowned and their bodies are missing” Frotan further added.

According to the source, investigations have started to find the bodies.
