10 Dead As Suicide Attack Targets Pakistan Court

PAKISTAN-COURT-BOM_2839837bKABUL: (MEP) At least 13 people have been killed in a suicide attack targeted a court complex on Monday in northwest Pakistan, local media said.

A Pakistan Taliban splinter group claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred in the Shabqadar neighborhood of Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, described as a “revenge attack” by a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban.

“The suicide bomber was trying to enter the judicial complex and he blew himself up when the police stopped him,” said police official Saeed Wazir.

Television news footage showed extensive damage including the charred remains of at least two vehicles.

The dead included four women and two police officials while 27 others people were injured, with six in a critical condition, according to police reports.

Charsadda is near the Mohmand tribal district, one of seven regions along the border with Afghanistan, where the Pakistani military has launched a major offensive against fighters from al-Qaeda and the TTP.
