Men Against Women’s Sports In Herat
MEP: Female athletes in western Herat province are deeply concerned of most restrictions and negative attitudes of men in the province.
They complain that their men prevent them from exercising and other businesses.
According to these females, the point of view of men than women sporting activities so shows that sports are only for men and women is not allowed to do so and always have opposed women’s sports.
Women in the city say they suffer a lot when their men show opposition to their decisions.
The report comes as some female athletes complain of family restrictions that has been causing a lot of problems in their professional.
Hajerah Neyayesh, one of female athletes told the Middle East Press, “negative attitudes of men towards women’s sports has prevented us not to have public and external training and we cannot surfing with sports uniforms in the community and the city.”
Behishta, another female athlete who exercises every morning because of her health, is fed up of people’s humiliating and offensive remarks and has decided not to exercise again.
But Zahra who is extremely interested in sports, is concerned of her family’s restrictions and oppositions that have negative and bad attitude about women’s sports.
She said her family believes that women are made for housework and sports are just for men.
Meanwhile, religious leaders say that Islam does not oppose women’s sports and argue that Islam does not oppose Sports and has an overview of sport and has never clearly distinguished between men and women, while much narratives are quoted on healthy living.
The problems came as female athletes in various fields, have achieved many honors and can no longer ignore the contribution of women in this field and must be equal to men in their share.
