Independence…??!!

Having partial security at the presidential palace (ARG) or some ministries is indeed a wrong saying if we claim we have a country wide security as well as independence.

The term “Independence” as a meaningfully comprehensive term has been sought by many nations: some succeed in achieving it and the others fail.

But there are some including people, nations, countries or even families who claim they are independent and having independence while they have not comprehend the meaning of independence in all dimensions.

From among the world countries, some countries due to their sense of colonialism colonized the poor but natural sources-and- mines rich countries.

Just some colonized countries in accordance with their own people`s will could get out of colonialism and gain their independence.

Among the countries which have gained or due to gain their independence, some because of having failed to pave the ways for domestic and local developments, establishing a unified and coherent government and live under one flagship, have to just claim independence but continue with being dependent to other countries.

In this regard, Afghanistan is one the countries that 98 years ago and after three intense wars with Britain Empire succeeded in gaining its independence.

Since then and over the 98 years, Afghanistan has rarely seen independence: domestic wars of all kinds began and the regional and world great powers played out their schemes against one another by equipping one group with weapons to fight against the other inside Afghanistan.

Now although 98 years has passed since Afghanistan gained its independence, independence has never existed in Afghanistan.

Independence in its extended meaning is not just not being colonized but covers all parts of governing. Afghanistan is still challenging with a domestic mismanagement and lack of preserving national interests and translating its nation`s requirements into practice. America and England but not Afghanistan are still making decisions on setting destiny for Afghanistan and elections.

With the passage of 98 years, the independence day of Afghanistan is marked in condition that army force from 30 foreign countries are available in Afghanistan: These foreign countries do as they wish regardless of what Afghanistan and Afghan want, a good example of this is the America`s non-atomic Mother of All Bombs (MOAB) used in Afghanistan soil.

That a country gains independence but falls after some years, 98, into the hands of some other countries does not really mean independence. Independence as defined refers to not letting anyone determine your destination.

Lack of Economic Independence

In economic sector, Afghanistan has no independence: large portion of the country`s development budget come from the foreign donor pockets. Afghanistan government is not able to provide the development budget. If the foreign donors cut their money in the security force`s salary, soon, Afghanistan security forces will be broken into pieces.

What Ahmad Saeedi, an Afghan political expert, in his interview with The Middle East Press told support this idea: “Countries with lack of economic independence, if claim political independence, it is a hollow saying.”

As this expert believes political independence is highly dependent on some prominent factors with economic independence at the top. Afghanistan till now has not been economically independent.

Being dependent on our neighbors about raw materials shows economic independence for Afghanistan seems to be unreachable in current situations.

When on daily basis, our people in cities and villages are losing their lives following sever insecurity and feeling safe has turned to be a dream for Afghans, marking the “Independence Day” makes no sense!

Mirza Olang massacre, Jonbesh-e Rowshanaee (lightning Movement), Jawadiy-e Mosque, suicide attack in Zanbqe conjunction and the other similar events prove there is no security independence across the country and Kabul is no exception to this loss.

Having partial security at the presidential palace (ARG) or some ministries is indeed a wrong saying if we claim we have a country wide security as well as independence.  Reaching independence seems to an impossible dream for the people of a country, Afghanistan, who, in two years, will mark 100th year of their independence.
