Death of US soldier confirmed in southern Afghanistan
The US Ministry of Defense acknowledged the death of a military soldier in southern Helmand Province.
The Pentagon said in a statement the soldier was killed on Wednesday during an American military operation in Helmand province.
According to the statement, Pfc. Hansen B. Kirkpatrick, 19, of Wasilla, Alaska was targeted by the armed opposition of the Kabul government and further research is under way.
The report comes as in the past few days, however, there has been a sharp clash between the security forces and US military forces in some of Helmand’s districts.
Earlier, a number of US troops were also attacked and killed in Nangarhar province.
