KABUL: (MEP) A Saudi spy drone has been shot down by Yemeni in southwestern province of Ta’izz.

The unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down by Yemeni forces backed by fighters from the popular committees in the area of Jahmaliyeh, local media reported on Monday.

Yemen’s al-Masirah TV quoted a Yemeni army source as saying, the high-tech spy drone was used to gather intelligence on troop arrangements as well as other military purposes.

This comes as Yemeni forces have targeted several Saudi drones over Yemen since the start of the violence against the country.

The Saudi military aggression against the Yemeni nation has been going on amid relative international silence since March 26 which left about 7,500 dead and a total of nearly 14,000 people have been injured.
